Although Web 2.0 is little older concept, i would like to discuss about it in a simple way, so that freshers and graduating students can easily understand the concept of web 2.0
In early 90s web services came into the market. The first generation web services were static, that is the end user can only read the information that is displayed in the web page.
After few years Web 2.0 came into the picture, which made the static web page into dynamic that allowed end user also to share some information, feed some input to the webpages.
In web 2.0 everything has become open, and everyone one can contribute, which also forms the base for the open source technology.
Since everything is open, security issues are quite more for the web services after the emergent of web 2.0, which has lead to another research area that worked and working on the security for web 2.0 services.
Blog, social networks are some of the example for the web 2.0 services, where the end user can share their views and information.
Since it is being called as web 2.0 the first generation web services were called as web 1.0.
Web 1.0 - Ready only web
Web 2.0 - Read and Write web
The next generation would be Web 3.0 - Read, Write, Execute.
Will discuss much more about this in the next article.
