Overview:
JMeter is one of the popular open source performance testing tool from the Apache foundation. It can be used for performance testing, stress testing and load testing. Apache JMeter can be used for all the three types of testing, by increasing and decreasing the access. JMeter can be downloaded and installed from the below website.
Open Source Technology!
As I have said, JMeter is an open source technology which have huge community support. Open source community will be the predominant source for all the query and solution. Since it is open source, JMeter framework can be expanded based upon the requirements. JMeter is built using Java, which is also called as Java Meter.
Java knowledge will help the developers to expand and increase the capability of the JMeter.
Salient Features:
1. Record and Playback - JMeter provides an option to record the activities which can be played back using the playback option. This will help the testers to a greater extent, which will help the user not to worry about the complex task.
2. No License Restriction - Since it is open source, there is no restriction in the expanding the framework as well as increase in the installation process. Remote testing can be implemented using the JMeter.
3. Real Time - Since there is no restriction in license, we can expand and experience the real time load and stress. "Distributed Testing" is the option that will enable the real time scenarios.
4. Apache JMeter can be integrated with 3rd party tool such as Maven and Jenkins.
