In this article I am going discuss about Types of domain name such as Country Domain and Global Domain name in detail. And also going to highlight the benefits of Global Domain Name.
Country domain name is nothing but, a domain name with an extension of country code. The country code for India is (.in ) - dot in. A global domain name is the one which is universally allocated and does not depend upon any country. Example : www.google.com. From India, if we type www.google.com, we indirectly requesting the main server which is located in United State. But we will be redirected to the Indian server which is www.google.in.
We always have a doubt whether the information stored in global server and Indian server is the same. Yes its the same. www.google.com indicates the master server and www.google.co.in is the slave of the master server. Master is the one which has the original content, the slave is the one which has the copy of it. The main reason for having such county domain name, is to reduce the traffic of the main server and also to provide an enhanced service to the users.
Any changes made in the master will be reflected in slave, but vise verse is not true. For example if google.com changes its doodle to mark the Christmas day, it will be reflected in all the sub servers or the slaves which are connected the master. If google.co.in make some changes in the doodle to mark the Indian Independence day, the change will not reflected in the master.
It is always advisable to use Global domain Name for the website, because country domain name is restricted to a limited region. Especially if a site has bank transactions it is advisable to have global domain name such as .com, .net, .org. The main reason is certain country domain name may look wired for the users, which may affect the transaction.
In the era of globalization, to have business around the globe. It has become mandatory for an organization to have a website and also have clean Internet image. Having a global domain name would increase the business opportunities.
