Is LAN a Distributed Computing?

We always confuse ourselves whether the Local Area Network is a form of DC ???

Let me make it simple..!!!

LAN

Local Area Network is an interconnection of computers within a small region.

Distributed Computing

" It is a global network of multiconfigured computers that run as a single system "

Computers wic have different configuration, Operating system, etc are connected together such that all the computers act as a single system.

This  can be done globally.

IS LAN a DC?

The answer for the Question is  a very big  "  NO  "

The Reasons are

Scalability:

The term scalability refers to freedom in adding and removing the machines into a computing environment. Mainly we have the freedom to expand the computing environment by adding machines into the network

LAN's scalability is limited , that is we can set up a network within a limited region. It is not possible to add machines beyond that region

But in Distributed form of computing we can expand easily by adding more machines. We do not have any restriction over the region, we can add machines into the network globally.

Configuration:

Computers with same configuration are connected to form  a Local Area Network. It is not possible to have   different configuration machines into a network

But in Distributed form of computing, computers with any configuration can be connected to form a network.
